comfortnoiz: Eric Arconte
Access via Planeta Za
We are hosting our first Comfort Noiz listening session at Pluto
A shoe-off, cozy, and guided listening session where we slow down and let music unfold through stories and history
For the first edition, we’re tracing the journey of Eric Arconte (1938–2007), a figure who truly bridged worlds. Born in Guadeloupe and trained at the 12th Paris Conservatory, Eric arrived in Iran in the summer of 1965 with a contract to stay for six months but ended up staying for 14 years.
He became one of the most powerful „behind-the-scenes“ figures and quiet architects of Iranian pop music during the 60s and 70s. He brought Afro-Caribbean and Latin rhythms, jazz harmony, and modern orchestration into Persian pop, reshaping how these songs were arranged and felt. His name stayed mostly in the background, but his sound still runs deep through the era.
To set the context, we’re starting the night with the documentary, Scorpio
It’s a perfect time capsule of the Iranian music scene in the 60s, capturing the energy of the emerging rock scene and the club culture where Eric first started his career as a drummer. It’s a rare look at the environment that allowed this fusion of sounds to happen, giving us a visual backdrop before we switch to the records.
