An endless playground for the open minded. A planet out of orbit, searching for its sun. Happy and sad.

“It was 9.30am, and Ankali was supposed to have been closed for over two hours already—but it wasn’t. The club was still completely full, so atch22 & Alpha Tracks stepped into the booth, and a spontaneous, trancey 4-hour journey began. I was so happy to see Felix quickly embrace our “endless playground” motto. Hands down, it was the longest Ankali night ever!”

“We feel unbreakable when she plays for almost six hours – temporary moments of freedom. As usual, but different this time. I was passing fruit to people on the dancefloor. The atmosphere was one of belonging, increased empathy, and respect. Without the past, without the future – just together on the first day of the year, searching for something. I want them to feel sudden impulses when TerminusTechnikus is behind the decks. I was there for a big part of it, but I also got lost for two hours, stuck in a space with moments that kept repeating. But listening to her music brought fresh changes that day.
Outside the dancefloor, the new day begins. The sky is getting lighter, but these are not the lights I care about. I stand there, and my friends stand there too. All around us, only trust and care. My friend Poli whispers to me: ‘Bara, because of her music I fill myself with power to rise with the sun and win tomorrow’s pointless battles.’ ”

“Edits’ set stopped time and reminded us that no matter what happens, everything is as it should be. Everything will be okay. The chaos and rush in Ankali and Planeta Za. The million friendships. The ups when you find your friends on a dancefloor. The downs when you lose them somewhere. A real life unfolding. Edits reassured us that everything will be fine.”

“Domizako and Miss Carriage’s NYE b2b left me utterly speechless, and for those who know me—that’s almost impossible to do. These two shared the most epic chemistry behind the decks, with each of them having the chance to highlight their impressive mixing skills and music selection. From start to finish, they found a way to bring everyone back to life to such a point that no one could bear to leave the dance floor. From ass-shaking bangers to sexy, bassy goodness, this set served it all.”

“Since I heard @albert_wawracz ‘s sets at @shella.radio I became obsessed with how he plays and his selections. This time [Ankali ½ Weekender back in September] was no different. A lot of energy, a lot of moods, quite a trip! You know, when you get hooked into a set, shaking your ass off and then you suddenly step out a bit and think: ‘How the f did we get here?’ Speedy footwork but also classical music? In the same set? Why not! Genres are just a social construct after all.” @am.i.allan

“The first time I heard LazerGazer live was in Barcelona at FOC, and let me tell you – my brain cells couldn’t handle it. I had no idea what was happening, I kept asking my self “how is she doing this?”, but my sober ass danced like I’d just been possessed with bass music. When I found out she was coming back to Planeta Za, there was no way I was missing it.
Luckily, I had a shift that night, but let’s be real – work had to wait. I snuck onto the dance floor with every chance I got, just to witness this woman mix an absurd number of genres with transitions so smooth, you couldn’t even tell when one ended and the next began. And the way she kept everyone glued on the dance floor for the entire set, I haven’t seen that for long time. It was honestly one of my favourite sets I heard this year.”

It’s been only a matter of time for the sounds of Oliver Torr and Ladislav Zensor (aka Oblaka/ Ex. Modern) to collide. While filling up their crates in different timelines and bubbles as DJs and singular producers, they have both been an influence to each other for couple of years already. supersonixx is their new club night series at Ankali during which they let their crates merge into one, and blow the lid off completely. Ahead of the second edition we publish a recording of their b2b from the first one, showcasing the scope of their club music deconstruction.

Steffen’s visits to Prague are usually quite memorable. Breathing in a fresh vibe on the anniversary evening in the frontyard, magnetising the early morning crowd at Planeta, smoking out the backstage rave; he always know what records to pack when coming to Prague. Recently he made his mark when opening the night before Aleksi Perälä’s live performance at Lunchmeat Teknologi event in May 2023, where he filled the floor instantly with a selection of soft and heavy techno. To refresh the memory, we’re publishing an extract from the set as the 29th episode of our podcast.

Come early, stay late – is what we usually recommend, especially when it comes to all-nighters like these. Our 22nd podcast is a recording of the b2b all-nighter of fleika & Wrong Assessment, good pals who reunited in Ankali’s booth at Archiv Teknologi in November 2022. It’s a full-night run, captured from the very moment the floor has started filling up, till the last track played, worth experiencing in its whole. So start early, and listen till the end.

Schaumstoff tuning our ears with Planeta’s soundsystem, making them ready for anything…
After two anniversary events thrown in exile, Ankali celebrated its fifth one at home. Finally we had a chance to spread the programme through all our spaces over the course of one long weekender. As a little throwback, we are publishing recordings of three sets which guided us through Saturday’s nightfall: Zozo bringing the dancers into an ecstatic climax in the blazing hot Garden; Schaumstoff tuning our ears with Planeta’s soundsystem, making them ready for anything; and Kosmic Skaut on Ankali’s floor helping us realise, that the second night will be twice as emotional and hard to leave as the first one.

18th episode of our irregular podcast series is a crunchy mix contributed by one and only, good guy Pepi Møreti. Words often don’t do much justice to music in general, and especially in case of trying to capture the essence of Pepi’s approach. So without giving away too much, or suggesting a subjective interpretation, we can at least say that the recording you’re about to indulge in is a pretty good picture of Møreti’s musical spectrum and the energy he’s able to radiate throughout its breadth. Despite being recorded at home, the thoroughly balanced mix wouldn’t fall short of bringing any crowd down to its knees inch by inch (in a good way). One more time, two more times, Møreti time.

While somewhat successfully scraping that covid-rust off our shoulders, we had several moments of pure joy in the last few months. One of the joy-gems surely was the San Trancisco night, which returned to the club after a drawn-out sleep and it was an awakening of dragon-like proportions. All the louder since our resident Yan, who has been kind of secretly digging trance tunes lately, joined the jam. He was incredible – the whole thing was – and hopefully this recording will transpire to you as a proof. If you’ll need to feel better, or straight away ecstatic, put it on and the gloomy skies won’t matter anymore.

2 hour journey with Mor Wen, pulling you into uncharted territories, home of her own…
When we gathered in Karlín Jungle to celebrate the 4th year of club’s existence it was more than just another birthday party. We wanted to put an end to the hardest year we ever had, symbolically. To leave behind, but not to forget. We needed to honor the little things we were able to do in the past year, but we also wanted to start anew, refresh. To raise glasses to a survival. Hence the subtitle – New Beginnings – and what an intense one that was.
We’ve managed to capture some of that intensity on our memory cards and we are publishing it as four memory artefacts: 41 minutes of gloomy yet warm magic of Exhausted Modern; 137 minutes of Claudia playing with Marie Pravda, both ablaze and unstoppable; 2 hours of UK, dub and breaks from Vision of 1994, all smiles and sunshines; and 2 hour journey with Mor Wen, pulling you into uncharted territories, home of her own.

In the middle of June 2020, a celebration of Ankali’s 3rd anniversary took place in exile, at the overgrown riverside spot we started calling Karlín Jungle. On Sunday, somewhen between the beginning of a rainy twilight and the overcast night’s darkness, one could have witnessed extraordinary events happening. One of those was Psj & Sanjin’s closing back to back set. born from an unprecedented momentum, it was a pinnacle of a joyful weekend spent with friends, a shared experience we all longed for so much after months of restrictions. Their set only multiplied that energy, creating a temporary blazing and expansive timespace bubble, full of muddy techno, sweaty electro, acidic tears and animals dancing around.
While enclosed in our homes, distancing ourselves and not able to socialise, we all turned to culture and art to help us get through the crisis…
While enclosed in our homes, distancing ourselves and not able to socialise, we all turned to culture and art to help us get through the crisis. We read, watched and listened. Virtual Healing streaming series offered a temporary solution to everyone who wished to be back on the dancefloor. One of those streams, a particularly pleasing one, the one which made us forget we’re actually swaying around the living room, was the one performed by Marie Pravda, during the Deviant healing session. A set full of mystical shamanism, magical gems and an actual healing energy, transferable through digital realm, which we have decided to republish as our 11th podcast.

It was a night in early October when the good guys of Endless Illusion, a cornerstone entity of our scene, occupied Ankali with their 8-year celebration night. The sound was dense, tempos were low and minds were melted. Among the well-wishers that night were two members of a quartet called Tapan, who played an hour-long live set saturated with cosmic synth work and outernational drumming. Good news is that Tapan have captured their sonic sorcery and we felt it’s about time we share it with you. Dive in & get lost.

A couple weeks back we hosted a takeover of the festival Nachtdigital. Today we’re jumping back into the moment with a recorded excerpt of their back-to-back set, so sit back and enjoy two hours of Acid, Electro and finest House for a better Tuesday.

In the early hours of 2018 a duo of house preachers of the highest order was in control of the Ankali dj booth. We’re glad we could share an hour-and-half long excerpt of their set, as the vibe they delivered is a supreme cure for the vicious frost outside.
