“If I DJ and you give me four hours, I’ll get there. And some people say, “You don’t play techno” but it’s like “Dude, give me time and you’ll see”. That’s why I love playing at Berghain, for example, because I can start off with Pye Corner Audio or Broken English Club and by the end I will get to Oscar Mulero, I will get to the fucking Waveform Transmissions or Sleeparchive records. That arch is crucial.”

Juan Mendez, widely known as Silent Servant, is joining our long-awaited reunion night with RARE. As a member of the nebulous entity Sandwell District – equal parts label, production collective and live show – he has been one of the most influential figures of techno since late ‘00s. 2023 sees Mendez continuing to play the world, with new releases on L.I.E.S., Tresor and maintaining his sixth year of the Optimistic Decay radio show on NTS.

RARE’s whydie? is joining the night of course as well as a pair of DJs from neighbouring dark worlds – Fuchs2 resident HNAT and Wrong’s HYΛEN.
