Digging through April with Marie

It’s always a pleasure whenever Marie Pravda drops by. Depending on the situation, her presence usually entails good talks, good music and some trouble – the good kind of course. This time she dropped by at our Blog to highlight some of the events from the busy April schedule. Cheers to some trouble!

This month at Ankali seems to be no joke! (hh) After a few months of traveling and playing abroad I am quite happy to spend some time at home, and looking forward to seeing you at some of the events I recommend attending. If you wanna sweat your trauma away or if you are just looking for a connection, I am sure you will find exactly what you need at one of these juicy parties. Have fun.

7–4–2023 Archiv Teknologi

Okay okay, picking a party where I play might seem a bit narcissistic but I have a little confession to make.

When I moved to Prague in 2018 all I could see was this huge hype around Alfred and fleika, which I didn’t really understand at that time. I was really stubborn with my slow-paced music and I just didn’t know how to enjoy techno. 2 years later in 2020, at 10am at the first Cukr Kolonie, I found myself dancing for 3 hours non-stop to fleika & Higgins. And then I understood.

Over time we became close friends with fleika. I found out that he is the sweetest & most honest guy hiding behind the grumpy face you might often see. If someone told me I will be closing the notorious Archiv Teknologi with him I would laugh my ass off back then. Life can be funny sometimes and it is really happening, and it is a real honor to me.

Besides that, the line-up includes a very special guest who was educating and entertaining dark warehouses and basements while I was still going to stupid student parties in my hometown. Please show some love to DVS1.

14–4–2023 Amphibian x Deviant

In January’s edition of thus blog series the light designer Ella (❤️) already praised the Amphibian guys, but I think it has to be said on repeat: they really brought the Prague scene’s little pool to life again with their progressive approach. They cover a wide range of music from fast-paced trance to heavy bass which makes your heart vibrate.

That is also why it is such a perfect match with Deviant, led by Claudia and phil in maze. Together they fuse into a new species of Deviant Frogs. Good luck trying to search for them in the wilderness or in atlases because this kind is only to be found in the territories of Ankali & Planeta Za.

To round things off, these freaks of nature decided to invite Amor Satyr & Siu Mata (heavy bass face inserted), mean producers & DJs who will make sure you don’t need to go to the gym anymore.

15–4–2023 Kosmic Care

I have known Miki [Kosmic Skaut] for 10 years. We come from the same town and we were kind of raised in the same club. What we also have in common is our approach to parties, since we both believe in the higher mission of music. I believe some of you already caught a glimpse of Miki’s energy, but for those who haven’t, I highly recommend attending Kosmic Care. I can assure you, you will be leaving with a big smile on your face.

He is doing his first edition as a sweet family reunion and as it goes at family gatherings, expect delicious sandwiches & tea for refreshment during the night. Mama NCOL & papa Olinství will bring all the sparks and joy of the night and their trippy kids Ana Mi & Kosmic Skaut are ready to bring some dancefloor prayers.

Here is Miki’s soothing selection for home which always melts me.

28–4–2023 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒕→

I’ve been recently talking to my DJ & promoter friends about the new generation of DJs. At some point we were looking for someone new with an original selection, someone who plays mindful music. We were not able to name anyone which made me really sad and lost in a way, feeling like the world is changing and there is no room for the kind of music I like anymore.

But then I found out about Skalm, a new girl on the block who literally saved my day. Her selection ranges from slow-bpm and tense music to highly danceable breaky sounds. She is the hero of the night for me and she’s playing the upcoming Spit.

My local headliner is accompanied by Bitter Babe who is bitter only by the name. I have been playing her thick bassy production quite often recently and I think she will deliver many mind-fucking moments during her set. Waterproof makeup only, it is going to get sweaty.

So that’s that, see you soon on the dancefloor!
