Films on Music:
A Screening & Talk w/ Rebecca Salvadori

An Archive of Relations and Experimental Music Documentation.

Rebecca Salvadori (1984) is a London-based artist working at the intersection between video art and documentary. Her film works act as constellations of highly personal and wilfully elusive heterogeneous elements: multifaceted portraits of moments, people and environments that can be approached from different angles as they move in between personal and transpersonal scales.

Over the last 15 years she has consistently engaged with experimental music and club culture, with a great interest in finding ways to connect the moving image with sound practices, live performance and alternative forms of storytelling.

Gravity Network invited Rebecca to screen and discuss her work with Freddie Hudson at Planeta Za on September 25, as a part of Ankali’s collaborative night with Lunchmeat festival. Before the Q&A we will screen two of her recent works, The Sun Has No Shadow (2022) which is an intimate visual journey centered on London’s FOLD club and UNFOLD day rave format; and Messengers (2022-ongoing), a hybrid film experience that is simultaneously a self-portrait, a portrait of a group of artists, of different music scenes, of a city in a specific moment of time.

After the talk and simultaneously with the Lunchmeat event on Ankali’s floor, we will also screen in a loop Tresor Tapes (2022), a film commissioned by Berlin’s Tresor and reflecs on different ways of approaching personal & collective archives, memory and club documentation.
