Digging through November with Cyril

Upcoming weeks will be busy, again. With so many things happening all over the place it’s easy to get lost. Luckily we got Cyril, one of the club’s founders and day-to-day managers, to share with you his recommendations on what’s worth the attention. So if you bump into him, it will most likely be at one of the events below.

Archiv Teknologi + Bukolika

We are kicking off the month with the 40th edition of Archiv Teknologi at Ankali floor and Bukolika`s contagion legion series at Planeta.

Our Archiv guests don`t need that much of an introduction for Prague ravers. Our good friend Marco aka Wrong Assessment has left a remarkable track on the local scene in past years. First time playing in 2015 at Polygon at Kolbenova, then a couple times at Cukr raves at Barrandov pool, and also once in Ankali. The Milan-based DJ and producer released numerous EPs on respected labels dedicated to hypnotic techno and also runs his own AWRY imprint.

Joining him for b2b all-nighter will be our resident and the Archiv Teknologi boss fleika (notable 15th appearance), who has been partly curating the series lately. We had this idea for a long time already and since they are good friends, close to each other musically and have already played a few times together, it’s guaranteed that the chemistry the two will emit will spread beyond the DJ booth. Archiv Teknologi at its best <3

From Marco I picked this hypnotic mix for the Hapësira podcast (check Alfred’s as well) and this nostalgic track released on RYC.

Martin has recently contributed a mix to Lost in Ether.

On the same night we will host the Bukolika crew for the first time. Bukolika is a small DIY festival happening in woods in east Bohemia. I personally haven’t visited yet, but I’ve heard many positive things about it – about the musical diversity, amazing friendly atmosphere and about the focus on creating a safe space. Happy to have them at Planeta. Mother Criminal and rgreat will represent the crew who decided to invite YUKU label curators Kumquat Tang and oolongbru, who used to run their own record store at Žižkov before the inflation took off. Unexpected experimental sounds and wide-genre diversity with a big love for broken beats.

Deviant x Mutant Radio

Collaboration of the month with a huge list of participating artists. Deviant party series curated by our dear Claudia is bringing the French bass star Simo Cell and a new addition to Garage Noord’s curatorial team – Zohar. I’m personally super happy that we have finally managed to reschedule Simo’s visit to Ankali since his last one was canceled by Covid. For people who are familiar with his DJ skills (producer’s as well), they know that this will be a blast. Bouncy bassy rhythms, techno, hiphop, I’m really excited :).

Check this bleepy mixtape (b2b with Skee Mask), released on Simo’s own iprint TEMET and the ‘Short Leg’.

Last time, we fell in love with the Dutch selector Rachella Groen aka Zohar, so we are excitedly awaiting her second appearance. Here’s her Dekmnatel podcast, dystopic and raw energy 💥

In August I was lucky to visit Mutant Radio during my visit to Tbilisi. The studio was closed, but I was lucky enough to have a small tour. Among old industrial and abandoned buildings, close to downtown and the river, lies this amazing place. I immediately fell in love with it and their homemade chacha <3 When the radio is on air, the space and the bar are open to the public, definitely recommended to everyone who is visiting the city.

This world-widely known and respected radio is coming in full force, with Mutant and Horoom residents Zesknel and Ninasupsa, and JD J and Hadrian. During the daytime we will stream live shows of our favorite local acts from Planeta’s garden: DJ Bingo, GWD (½ Ethno Service), Oliver Torr, Qow and rlung.

Omar’s (Qow) powerful track released on Prague`s Genot Centre.

And this b2b from Mutant’s gathering.

Yugaduss & No Borders

My favourite yugga-boys are having another club affair. Besides Yan & Alfred, the usual suspects, we decided to invite US-born, Berlin-based CCL, and Sedef Adasi from Augsburg (DE). Cecilia aka CCL already played at Ankali once, last year in the summer. They played the closing and it was sooo good… I danced till the end and 3 hours definitely weren’t enough. Great energetic sets and production full of breaks, trance, techno – trip through a neon wave.

However, we’re leaving the closing duties to Sedef this time, and that’s something to look forward to as well. Blitz club and Panorama Bar resident has been making some serious waves this year and she is known for being great at keeping the energy high. A perfect match with CCL. Lots of house, techno, trance and energy that does not let you go home. Looking forward, catch me on the dancefloor <3

To spice it up, we’ll have Alfred playing at Planeta, joined by Vitamin’s crew member Servicebot and a birthday closing by my brother in crime Sanjin.

Side note – I just wanted to give some props to Vitamin’s club family, who created something special in Brno. They recently stepped out from the shadows, making things a bit more official, and announced their first full program. This year we did two collaborative events which I really enjoyed, especially the one over there. Feeling at home in a club without the pressure of work responsibilities is very rare and precious to me. Keep it up and looking forward to our next collab in January <3

Amphibian x Unizone

It’s a pleasure to host the 1st anniversary of this young Prague-based collective. It’s always nice to see a new generation of DJs, producers and promoters who are pushing things in a good direction. Founding their own label, playing all over Czech Republic and abroad, throwing warehouse parties and spreading good energy all around. Among others, they’re celebrating with Norway’s rising star Oprofessionell, Unsound’s own Hermeneia and one of the most admirable experimental local labels – Unizone.

Groovy opening set from Salo by Atch ( ½ Teletext)

Unizone’s label co-founder Ancestral Vision and his Crack podcast – only Czech producers included. Big up!

Archiv Teknologi & No Borders

Wrapping up the month with another diverse lineup. We finally managed to invite Kletis to play at Ankali, a talented DJ, producer and party organiser, who is very active around Liberec – as a member of the Shotgun festival crew and organising Multiversum events, keeping the local scene attractive. Another Ankali premiere will be a b2b of our beloved Eva Porating and Silhouette <3 and UK’s finest Forest Drive West. As a producer he released amazing EPs on Livity Sound, R&S records, Ilian Tape… Impressive collection of deep, percussive and broken sound.

Planeta will be occupied by Shikoba from Leipzig, Zey and another french bass specialist Toma Kami. In love with all his collabs with Emma Dj.
